Tips for Better Sleep

Getting a really good night’s sleep often feels like a luxury. But it doesn’t have to be out of reach! We’ve got some great ideas for getting a better night’s sleep tonight, right here in your Estates Woodland apartment in Magnolia, Texas.

First, think about the benefits. Sometimes we postpone getting ready for bed because we think we need to make the most of our late nights. But sleeping better at night has a ton of health benefits and can help you accomplish more throughout the day, so make an effort to say no to unnecessary things that demand your attention late at night and put them aside for the next day. Let yourself wind down so you can better prepare for rest. The things you do during the hours before bed can really affect the quality of sleep you get at night.

For some people, being able to fall asleep is more of a medical concern. For those cases, we suggest seeing a doctor or specialist, because there could be many more factors at play. However, there are some changes you can make to ensure you wake up feeling more rested.

Start by implementing a nightly routine. This is a great way to give yourself a schedule and get yourself relaxed before bed. Allow yourself at least an hour to relax and prepare for bed. Things, like washing your face and brushing your teeth, will take place at this time. Try sipping on some soothing tea as well. Avoid coffee, as the caffeine can keep you awake. Even decaf can keep you awake since your mind is used to those smells and tastes at the beginning of the day when it’s time to get things done!

Lavender and other essential oils are calming and can help soothe your body and mind. Try spraying some of the essential oil onto your pillow or sheets so you’re immersed in the scent. Also, try to avoid the harsh lights on your phone or tablet before bed. Set your alarm and then put your phone away.

Avoid exercising right before bed, as well. Some light stretching or yoga, however, could help calm your mind and body.
